Why us?

With all the excitement of the take over at the club and the usual questions as to how much money might be thrown at us to drag us back up to being National North relegation fodder, we invariably forget another equally important question.  And that is, with numerous clubs available to acquire outright, or at least, welcoming investment, why would anyone choose us?  Let's not kid ourselves that we are any great prize.  As much as we like to believe the footballing sun rises and sets to the rhythm of the beating Poppies heart, we ain't all that.  What makes presumably otherwise rational people walk out at Latimer Park and say to themselves, "Yes, this is what I've been looking for.  Now, hand me my chequebook..."

In can't be our stuttering team.  Or our barely acceptable facilities.  Or the 700 of us crowding around the pitch and moaning about our lot in life.  What do we have that they might want?  We don't own the clay our ground sits on.  We have car parking solely at the pleasure of Alumasc.  Our parked team bus hasn't moved in years.  And even when it did, it was a toss up whether it would get the team both to the away fixture AND back again.

Hopefully in a few weeks time our new owners will clear up the whys and wherefores of taking over the Poppies.  Obviously we'll have to wade through the usual platitudes about how great Kettering are and how great the fans are (nice as they are to hear) and find out exactly what attracts people with no connection to the club to spend good money with the assumption of further good money to follow in order to preside over the Poppies.  I, for one, am all ears.

Lots of questions.
Hopefully someone else will
ask them as I'm a born bottler.
